Abstract

This study examines the habituation of Arabic language through the mulazamah method and the role of kyai and asatidz in building a bi’ah lughawiyyah at PPTQ Ar-Royyan Pacitan. The purpose of this research is to analyze how the mulazamah method is implemented, identify the roles of educators, and explore supporting and inhibiting factors in the process. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving kyai, asatidz, and santri. The results show that the mulazamah method is implemented in a structured, gradual, and continuous manner, enabling students to understand and practice Arabic in daily life. The kyai plays a central role as a policy maker, role model, and supervisor, while asatidz act as direct implementers and facilitators in daily interactions. The application of dairatul lughawiyyah and disciplinary rules strengthens language habituation. However, challenges remain, including low student motivation, lack of confidence, and limited vocabulary. In conclusion, the Arabic language habituation through the mulazamah method is relatively effective, but requires reinforcement in motivation, consistency, and psychological support to optimize learning outcomes.
