Abstract

Obesity is a major health problem associated with an increased risk of non-communicable diseases. This study aimed to describe factors influencing obesity among employees of UPTD Puskesmas Halmahera, Semarang. A descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted on July 6–14, 2026, involving 30 employees participating in the GAS MELON program selected by consecutive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and anthropometric measurements and analyzed descriptively using SPSS based on the H.L. Blum framework. Most respondents were female (83.3%), aged 30–39 years (63.3%), and had a family history of obesity (70.0%). Behavioral factors included irregular eating patterns, frequent stress-related overeating, prolonged sitting, and limited physical activity. As many as 63.3% of respondents exercised only occasionally, while 86.7% reported sedentary activities during leisure time. These findings indicate that genetic, behavioral, environmental, and health service factors contribute to obesity among employees. Strengthening healthy eating habits, physical activity, stress management, and participation in the GAS MELON program is needed to support obesity prevention and control.
