Abstract

The principal plays a crucial role in creating and enforcing discipline within the school environment. The principal is not only responsible for managing school administration but also acts as a leader capable of providing role models, coaching, and supervision to all members of the school community. Discipline is a key factor in supporting an effective learning process and an orderly school environment. Therefore, the principal needs to implement appropriate leadership strategies in enforcing discipline among teachers, staff, and students to create a positive and responsible school culture. This study aims to determine the principal's leadership strategy in enforcing discipline at SMP Negeri 4 Idanogawo, as well as to identify supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The research subjects included the principal, vice principal, teachers, staff, and students. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the principal's leadership strategy in enforcing discipline is carried out through providing role models, consistent application of school regulations, regular coaching and supervision, providing motivation, and collaboration with teachers and parents. Furthermore, the principal also employs a persuasive approach to fostering a sense of discipline and responsibility in students. This strategy has been proven to improve student discipline and create a more orderly and conducive school environment.
