Abstract

Background: The incidence of HIV/AIDS among adolescents continues to rise due to a lack of accurate medical knowledge and a high prevalence of sociological misinformation or myths. In the Working Area of Limboto Public Health Center, the limited availability of adaptive and scheduled health promotion media has hindered optimal outcomes for adolescent health programs. Objective: To analyze the effect of video-based health education on the level of knowledge regarding HIV/AIDS prevention among adolescents in the Working Area of Limboto Public Health Center. Methods: This quantitative study utilized a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test post-test control group approach. A sample of 50 respondents was selected through cluster random sampling and divided equally into an intervention group (video media) and a control group (leaflet media). Results: Prior to the intervention, the majority of respondents demonstrated poor knowledge. Following the intervention, the video group showed a sharp increase in good knowledge, reaching 76% (19 respondents) with an average score increase of 5.76 points. Conversely, the leaflet group remained predominantly in the moderate category at 52% (13 respondents), with a mean score increase of only 0.80 points. Parametric statistical testing using the paired t-test confirmed a significant effect of video-based health education on adolescent knowledge levels ($p = 0.000 < 0.05$). Conclusion: Health education delivered through audio-visual video media is proven to be significantly effective in improving HIV/AIDS prevention knowledge among adolescents. Recommendation: Limboto Public Health Center should integrate educational video media into routine health counseling agendas to dispel misinformation among adolescents, particularly across formal and non-formal educational institutions.
