Abstract

Anemia among adolescent girls remains a significant public health problem that may reduce learning concentration, physical endurance, and overall health status. Poor nutritional status is considered one of the factors associated with anemia because inadequate nutrient intake may interfere with hemoglobin formation. Adolescent girls are particularly vulnerable to anemia due to increased nutritional needs during growth and menstrual blood loss. This study employed a quantitative correlational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The research was conducted at SMPN 1 Cepogo Boyolali in March 2026. A total of 55 seventh-grade female students were selected using simple random sampling. Nutritional status was assessed using Body Mass Index (BMI) based on body weight and height measurements, while hemoglobin levels were measured using the EasyTouch GCHb® device. Data were analyzed using Fisher’s Exact Test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that most respondents had normal nutritional status, accounting for 29 students (52.7%), while 19 students (34.5%) were underweight and 7 students (12.7%) were overweight. A total of 27 students (49.1%) experienced mild anemia. Bivariate analysis showed a p-value of 0.803 (p>0.05), indicating that there was no significant relationship between nutritional status and anemia incidence among adolescent girls at SMPN 1 Cepogo Boyolali. Conclusion: There was no significant relationship between nutritional status and anemia incidence among adolescent girls. Anemia may be influenced by other factors, such as dietary patterns, menstrual conditions, and iron supplement consumption.
