Abstract

. Social media has become an important digital space that influences the way legal practitioners communicate, educate, and build professional relations with the public. However, the use of social media by legal practitioners also raises ethical challenges, particularly in relation to professional conduct, client confidentiality, public opinion, and legal integrity. This study aims to analyze the influence of social media on the ethics of the legal profession and the integrity of legal practitioners in the digital era. This research uses a normative legal method with statutory and conceptual approaches. The legal materials used include laws and regulations, professional codes of ethics, journals, books, and relevant legal articles. The results show that social media can provide positive benefits as a means of legal education, public communication, and access to legal information. Nevertheless, social media can also create ethical risks when used for excessive promotion, disclosure of client confidentiality, dissemination of personal data, provocative statements, or the formation of public opinion that may interfere with legal processes. Therefore, legal practitioners must use social media carefully, professionally, and responsibly by upholding ethical principles, confidentiality, integrity, and applicable legal norms. This study emphasizes that social media should not only be understood as a communication tool, but also as a public space that requires ethical and legal accountability.
