Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of electronic money usage on the consumptive behavior of students in the Economic Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, HKBP Nommensen University Medan, Class of 2025. The rapid development of financial technology has increased the use of electronic money among students, which potentially influences their consumption patterns. This study employs a quantitative approach with descriptive and associative methods. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to students as respondents. The data analysis technique used simple linear regression to determine the relationship between electronic money usage and consumptive behavior. The results indicate that the use of electronic money has a positive and significant effect on students’ consumptive behavior. The ease, practicality, and various promotional offers encourage students to make impulsive purchases. Therefore, awareness and proper financial management are needed to prevent excessive consumptive behavior.
