Abstract

This study aimed to plan a communal domestic wastewater treatment system for the fishing settlement in Dusun 1 and Dusun 2, Labuan Village, Lage District, Poso Regency. The study used a quantitative descriptive approach supported by field observation, interviews, population data, household data, and a village map. Population for the 2030 design horizon was projected using arithmetic, geometric, and least-square methods. The largest projection, 775 people, was used for subsequent design calculations. Domestic wastewater flow was estimated from water demand, while the communal treatment units were sized hydraulically. The results produced a total design flow of 75.33 m³/day or 3.14 m³/hour, consisting of 74.37 m³/day from households and 0.96 m³/day from a restaurant. The effective volumes and hydraulic retention times were 7.8 m³ and 2.48 hours for the grease trap, 13 m³ and 4.14 hours for the primary settling tank, 10.4 m³ and 3.31 hours for the anaerobic biofilter, and 9.1 m³ and 2.90 hours for the final settling tank. The proposed design provides a planning basis for centralized domestic wastewater management in the coastal settlement, while implementation still requires elevation control, routine maintenance, community participation, and effluent quality monitoring.
