Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding failure among working mothers represents a multifactorial public health concern that warrants comprehensive investigation. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between knowledge level, family support, and workload with exclusive breastfeeding failure among working mothers in the working area of PKM Lolak, Sorong Regency. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was applied to 30 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using validated and reliable questionnaires and analyzed using the chi-square test and Spearman's rho correlation at a significance level of α = 0.05. The results demonstrated that all independent variables were significantly associated with exclusive breastfeeding failure, each yielding p = 0.000 with a correlation coefficient of 0.882, indicating a very strong relationship. Mothers with good knowledge, adequate family support, and light workload exclusively breastfed their infants without exception, whereas those with opposing conditions all failed. It is concluded that these three factors are consistently and strongly associated with exclusive breastfeeding practices among working mothers, necessitating integrated interventions that simultaneously address educational aspects, family role reinforcement, and maternal workload reduction.
