Anemia in pregnant women remains a serious global public health concern; the World Health Organization 2025 assessment reports that 35.5% of pregnant women globally experienced anemia in 2023, a condition that increases the risk of low birth weight, preterm delivery, and maternal mortality. One of the primary prevention strategies is the regular consumption of iron (Fe) tablets according to WHO recommendations; however, adherence to iron tablet consumption among pregnant women remains low, including in Indonesia. This study aimed to analyze factors associated with adherence to iron tablet consumption among pregnant women at Talang Jambe Public Health Center, Palembang City. This research utilized a quantitative analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 106 pregnant women selected using purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results revealed that 84.0% of respondents demonstrated non-adherence to iron tablet consumption. Bivariate analysis indicated no statistically significant associations between age, education, occupation, parity, iron tablet availability, or husband's support and iron tablet consumption adherence (p > 0.05). Conversely, knowledge (p = 0.040), the role of healthcare workers (p = 0.048), and the role of community health volunteers/cadres (p = 0.040) were significantly associated with iron tablet consumption adherence. These findings align with international evidence that community-based accompaniment represents a strong determinant of iron supplementation adherence. This study concludes that the role of community health volunteers constitutes an important contribution to improving iron tablet consumption adherence among pregnant women. Therefore, strengthening and optimizing the role of community health volunteers should be prioritized as a cost-effective and easily replicable intervention strategy in efforts to prevent anemia among pregnant women in the working area of Talang Jambe Public Health Center, Palembang City.
