Abstract

Exposure to pornography among adolescents has become a serious issue that may affect psychological development, social behavior, and increase the risk of unsafe sexual practices. Limited knowledge regarding the dangers of pornography is one of the contributing factors to adolescent vulnerability. This study aimed to analyze the effect of educational intervention using digital comic media on knowledge about the dangers of pornography among seventh-grade students at SMPN 14 Depok. This research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design using a one group pretest–posttest design. The population and sample consisted of 79 students selected using a total sampling technique. The research instrument was a knowledge questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha = 0.852). Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Wilcoxon signed rank test. The results showed that before the intervention, 26.86% of respondents were categorized as having good knowledge, which increased to 86.1% after the intervention. The mean knowledge score increased from 64.10 to 87.61. Statistical analysis showed a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a significant effect of digital comic-based education on improving students’ knowledge about the dangers of pornography. Digital comic media is considered an effective alternative health education tool for enhancing adolescents’ understanding of pornography risks.
