In 2022, Indonesia recorded a total of 131,265 Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) cases, with 40% occurring in children aged 0-14 years. Preliminary observations conducted in December 2022 at Cilandak Marine Hospital revealed that while surveillance was performed daily, it was frequently delayed. Reporting lags in data collection were attributed to limited human resources, as there was only one dedicated staff member who was frequently assigned to external duties. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method to illustrate the implementation of the DHF surveillance system at Cilandak Marine Hospital. Results from observations and interviews with medical record officers indicate that there is no Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for DHF surveillance. Data analysis regarding the timeliness of reporting for hospitalized DHF patients showed a rate of only 7.6% (out of 13 patients) in March, compared to 50% (out of 4 patients) in October. Furthermore, daily attendance for active hospital surveillance was recorded at only 3.3% in March 2023 and 6.5% in October, indicating low compliance with surveillance performance indicators. Timeliness in data collection and submission is critical as an early warning indicator to prevent the widespread transmission of dengue and the occurrence of outbreaks (Extraordinary Events).
